Windhorst表示，如果詹姆斯执行下赛季的球员选项或是签下一份不低于同样数额的续约合同，湖人将需要缴纳大约100万美元的奢侈税，并拥有一个570万美元的迷你中产。如果詹姆斯选择降薪，让湖人的薪资总额处在奢侈税线以下，湖人将可以使用一个价值1400万美元的全额中产来引援。
